g a d g e t s : the best household items!

We recently got married, and while I thought that creating gift registries would be a breeze, it ended up being a little trickier than expected. I hadn’t done any extensive research on my most-wanted household appliances yet (who has time for that, anyway?). SO, after some life-on-life experience with so many new items, here is a list of our daily staples! Whether you’re building a registry of your own or just interested in some awesome life-saver products, here’s my top 10!

  1. Coffee percolator – ($41) I have a Keurig, glass pour-over, drip coffee maker, and French press. I do loooooove coffee in all of its expressions, but our favorite morning cuppa comes from this percolator. There’s a unique richness to the coffee, but in a not-too-strong way. And if I may add, there’s just something charming about the old-timey fashion of percolator coffee.
  2. Dirt Devil Handheld Vacuum – ($38) This thing is good for so much more than vehicle interiors! I love how it’s rechargeable and can be used so many times before needing another charge. I keep it handy near the kitchen to quickly clean up the little droppings that happen during meal prepping. It’s also great for getting in hard-to-reach areas, like underneath the coffee table after entertaining with crumbly desserts. But, yes, it’s also awesome for vehicle interiors.
  3. Ninja Blender – ($79) Y’all. There’s something people don’t tell you about getting married. Everyone talks about the wedding diet, but not the post-wedding diet! That’s the one y’all need to worry about! It’s so fun to curl up after your favorite dinner with a good flick… and a dessert. We started kicking the dessert craving right away by making our own fruity sorbets with no added sugar. So whether it’s a breakfast smoothie you’re going for, or a sweet tooth alternative, I’ve been super impressed with this blender. It’s consistent, easy to clean, and works fast and powerfully. It’s a win!
  4. Threshold Bed Tray – ($34) This might not be a “norm” for us in the future once we have a sweet breakfast nook, but in this season of life, we do a lot of morning coffees + oatmeals + juices in the living room during our devo time. It’s so easy and fun to “tray up” your morning breakfast or movie dinners. And I’m still going for the whole “breakfast in bed” scenario (which is actually what the tray is meant for), but somehow I don’t have the wife skills to keep him asleep while I’m making breakfast. So, still trying on that one.
  5. George Foreman Portable Grill – ($79) Guys. We grill everything now! There’s nothing like the flavor a grill makes, and it’s so easy to achieve when this one is electric and can even potentially be used in the kitchen if the outside weather isn’t being cooperative. It’s easy to clean and has a drip tray to catch any excess fat/grease while cooking. We use this grill for making paninis, grilled veggies, or just our everyday of cooking chicken before it goes into our dinners.
  6. Brita Stream Hydro Filter – ($29) We used to buy gallons of water to bring home – such a chore to lug them around! And even though water is fairly cheap, it still seems lame to spend money just on water. We have definitely gotten our use out of this filter! It purifies the water as you pour it – and it has a digital panel on the top that tells you when the filter needs to be changed.
  7. Aerolatte Handheld Milk Frother – ($16) Nothing bulky here! This will fit right in your cooking utensil drawer, and it’s so great for making lattes at home! For the record, I use almond milk in my lattes and it froths it just as nicely! This is a great treat to really up your daily coffee/chai/matcha.
  8. Avocado Slicer – ($10) We just might consume more avocados than normal folks, but this tool is such a breeze to use. It cuts, pits, and evenly slices your avocados. Say hello to a new level of avo toast!
  9. Blackout Curtains – ($35) This one might seem like a weird one, but bear with me. We are all about our outdoor patio life, and these have turned out to be absolutely perfect outdoor curtains! We got them in light beige, and they do a ton to help cool off our patio by blocking a lot of direct sunlight. They’re still lightweight, the color doesn’t fade in the sunlight, and they’re very durable for outdoor weather.
  10. Wire Basket with Copper Handles – ($19) There’s always something that needs to go in a basket! Throw blankets, cleaning supplies, notebooks, closet storage – these make anything look organized, and give a great touch to the room even if they’re left out.

There you have it! What are your favorite household items?
